GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS! I just discovered something! Here goes nothing:

Kinja'd!!!

If you look at the Mclaren headlights and the space below it, it appears the headlights are exactly the same as the little red swoop on the Mclaren logo! I hope this isn't too obvious, because it took me a long time to realize this!

I noticed that awhile ago. They're like that on the 650S too.

More McLaren swoops on the top. I'd give you a hard time, but I've missed crazy obvious things as well. It's all good!

Did you know the swoop was also in the 12C before it got the 650S update?

Yeah! Daender also pointed out on this page that they were in the MP4-12C headlights too.

I'm always surprised at how few people know this. The headlight's the most obvious, but the swoop is also evident in the front bumper and the side vents.

..although it does look awful similar to the Buy NZ Made logo which came out in the mid 80s, and I doubt that's a complete co-incidence. Merging the Flying Kiwi and the Marlboro chevron would have made a lot of sense.

Steve Hopkinson disagrees with you, but I can see the resemblance. It's plausible, even though McLaren don't claim as much :

The revamped logo that first appeared in 1997 featured a streamlined speedmark which bares similarities to the vortices created by our rear wing. It appeared on the top of our cars' side-pods. They evoke the aggressive markings found on predatory animals and insects. The white wording was also made even more powerful by the black background.

I was aware, but to this day I'm still fascinated by Mclaren's attention to detail.

It's no wonder their cars are absolute stunners. You're right, the attention to even the tiny details is absolutely amazing.
